Although the tree is very hardy and will tolerate more or less water, the tree is not invincible. Therefore, they dislike extreme weather changes, drought, and cold climates.
Some people are mildly allergic to Chinese Elm trees. Therefore, always use gloves when pruning Chinese Elm bonsai. If you notice common allergy symptoms occurring regularly, take a daily antihistamine or move the tree into a less frequently used area of your home.
